Since 1974, Carl’s Coney Island has been a hometown favorite here in Claremore — a place where good food and friendly faces always come together. It all started when Bill and Yvonne “Jean” Schloss opened Carl’s, naming it after their friend and chili cook, Carl, whose legendary recipe gave our coneys their signature flavor. Their daughter, Beth Truitt, grew up right here behind the counter, eventually taking over to keep the family tradition alive. In 2024, Carl’s proudly celebrated 50 years of serving up classic Route 66 comfort food and small-town hospitality. Today, new owners Jon and Aarika Copeland — with over 15 years of restaurant experience — are honored to carry on the legacy. They’re dedicated to preserving everything folks love about Carl’s, while adding their own touch to keep this beloved Claremore staple thriving for generations to come.
